Aesthetic Medicine in Bogotá
As we age, our skin loses firmness, our cheekbones become less defined, the facial contour becomes less prominent, and sagging begins to appear on our face, neck, and even abdomen. Many of us notice these changes when we look in the mirror, but we don’t want to undergo surgery. At this point, thread lifts become a valuable alternative in aesthetic medicine, offering a lifting effect with a minimally invasive procedure.
At Benavides Aesthetic Medicine, we use state-of-the-art lifting threads that stimulate collagen and elastin production. The goal is not to “change your face,” but to restore support to the tissues and improve the quality of your skin naturally, respecting your anatomy and features.
What are thread lifts?
Thread lifts are absorbable medical devices designed to tighten and lift the supporting tissues of your skin without surgery. They have been used for years in dermatology, aesthetic medicine, and plastic surgery to perform non-surgical facelifts and body lifts.
They are inserted into specific layers of your skin and subcutaneous tissue using fine needles or microcannulas. Once in place, they perform two functions:
- Immediate mechanical action:
The threads tighten and “anchor” your tissues in a higher position, redefining contours such as the facial oval, cheeks, or neck.
- Progressive biostimulation:
The thread material—absorbable and biocompatible—stimulates the production of collagen and elastin around the area where it was placed. Over the following months, this new collagen “mesh” contributes to a natural and lasting rejuvenating effect.
In our clinic in Bogotá, led by Dr. María Fernanda Benavides, we work with threads that meet quality and safety standards, are hypoallergenic and resorbable, designed to integrate into the tissue without leaving visible residues or scars.
In what areas can lifting threads be used?
One of the advantages of this treatment is its versatility. It can be applied to both the face and some areas of the body.
- Facial lifting threads
- Eyebrows and upper third: to slightly raise the tail of your eyebrow and open up the eyes.
- Cheekbones and cheeks: to regain projection and support in your mid-face.
- Nasolabial folds and marionette lines: to soften pronounced creases.
- Facial oval and jawline: to improve contour and definition.
- Double chin and neck: to tighten your skin and reduce the feeling of sagging.
- Neck area and décolleté
Ideal for patients who notice fine sagging, superficial wrinkles, and loss of skin density.
- Lifting threads for the abdomen and other body areas
In some cases they can be used to provide additional support in mild sagging of the abdomen, inner arms or inner thighs.
The precise indication for each area is defined together with Dr. María Fernanda Benavides, in the individual medical assessment.
What are thread lifts used for?
Thread lifts are used for:
- Repositioning tissues that have descended due to gravity and collagen loss.
- Improve the contour of the face, especially the oval and jawline.
- Reduce the appearance of “tiredness” in the mid-face, lifting cheekbones and smoothing wrinkles.
- Tighten the skin of the neck and chin without visible scars.
At what age can they be placed?
In our clinic in Bogotá, we have treated everyone from young patients with localized sagging or poorly defined features, to older people who want to soften the sagging of tissues without resorting to surgery.
In general:
- From the age of 18 onwards, the use of lifting threads can be considered, provided there is a clear indication and realistic expectations.
That’s why, at Benavides Aesthetic Medicine, we always perform a comprehensive evaluation of your face, neck, or body area to be treated before proposing this or any other procedure.
Results and duration of effect
In most of our patients, the initial result is visible within the first few hours: increased skin tension, midface elevation, and improved definition of the jawline or neck contour are noticeable.
As the weeks go by, when the body begins to produce new collagen around the threads, the result becomes more natural and the skin gains firmness and texture.
As a general guideline, the effect can last between 18 and 24 months, although this varies depending on:
- Patient’s age.
- Skin quality and habits (sun, tobacco, sleep, diet).
- Number and type of threads used.
- Whether or not it is combined with other aesthetic medicine treatments.
Aftercare and recovery
After the placement of the lifting threads:
- It is normal to feel slight tension or discomfort in the areas where the threads were placed.
- You may experience small bruises or mild swelling that tend to improve within a few days.
In general, standard recommendations include:
- Apply cold compresses protected by a clean cloth for the first few hours.
- Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for several days.
- Avoid facial massages, aesthetic treatments in the area, and high-impact exercise for at least 2 weeks.
- Do not expose the treated area to intense heat (sauna, Turkish bath, tanning) in the first few weeks.
- Avoid exaggerated facial expressions or putting pressure on the area with helmets or rigid objects during the integration period.
In most cases, our patients can resume their daily activities very quickly.
What is the price of thread lifts?
This is one of the most frequent questions we receive in consultations. It’s natural for people to write to us asking “what is the price of thread lifts” or “price of thread lifts in Bogotá” before making a decision.
However, the final value depends on factors such as:
- Number of threads required.
- Areas to be treated (face only, neck, combination with abdominal lifting threads or other areas).
- Degree of sagging and complexity of the case.
- Whether or not they are combined with other treatments.
That’s why, at Benavides Aesthetic Medicine, we first perform an individual medical assessment.
