Telangiectasias, commonly known as spider veins or broken red vessels, are small dilations of blood vessels found near the surface of the skin. Both men and women can suffer from them and affect their appearance. In this blog we tell you how you can get rid of these spiders easily and safely.
Spider veins, a problem of many colors
These lesions can be red, green, purple or light blue, they can be caused by different factors and usually
appear on the legs, although they can also manifest in other areas of the body. The treatment for telangiectasias has evolved over the years and there are currently effective and safe options for its elimination.
One of the most used techniques to treat telangiectasias is sclerofoam. This procedure consists of applying a sclerosant in the form of a sealing foam directly to the affected vessels.
The sclerosant causes a reaction in the vessel wall, closing it and thus preventing inflammation and dilation of the superficial veins. Sclerofoam is especially effective in treating spider veins and small varicose veins.
In some cases, to improve treatment results, vascular laser can be used as a complement or in association with sclerofoam or Conventional Classical Sclerotherapy.
Vascular laser as a complementary treatment
Vascular laser is a specialized technology that emits light at a specific wavelength, targeting the affected blood vessels. This light is absorbed by the hemoglobin present in the blood, heating and closing the glass. The use of Vascular Laser may be the first choice to treat certain cases of Telangiectasias, according to the doctor’s evaluation.
It is important to highlight that both sclerofoam and vascular laser can address different types of vessels, from the most superficial and red ones to those that are larger and greenish, purple or light blue in color, which are varicose veins.
These procedures are safe and performed on an outpatient basis, meaning the patient can return to their usual activities after treatment, without significant discomfort.
Dermocosmetic therapy
In addition to specific treatment for telangiectasias, management can be complemented with dermocosmetic therapy. Oral and topical venotonics help improve circulation and strengthen blood vessel walls. The use of elastocompressive stockings is also beneficial to improve venous return and reduce the appearance of new spider veins.
The results of treatment for telangiectasias are generally immediate, meaning that an immediate aesthetic improvement can be seen after the procedure. It is important to mention that results may vary depending on the extent and severity of the problem, as well as each patient’s individual response to treatment.
