The number of sessions required to remove a tattoo depends on several factors: the skin phototype and biotype, the depth and age of the design, as well as the pigment color. Paradoxically, darker colors such as black and blue usually require fewer sessions, while lighter shades need more treatment time due to the way the laser acts on the pigment. The most effective devices are the Q-Switched Nd:YAG and Ruby lasers, considered reference standards for their safe and consistent results. On average, black and blue tattoos can be removed in 2 to 4 sessions; brown and red in 3 to 5; green and light blue in 4 to 8 sessions with combined lasers. Meanwhile, yellow and pink colors are more difficult to treat, and white pigment currently cannot be removed.
